Long rumored, occasionally seen at trade shows, Castles
elusive 1/8th scale Mamba Monster Brushless ESC is finally
available to the public. Castle has used all of their
tricks to deliver stunning power for monster trucks and
1/8th buggy conversions.
The Mamba Monster handles up to 6S LIPO input (25.2 Volts
MAX). It has a switching BEC circuit onboard to provide
plenty of power for your receiver and servos. Dont worry
about the amp rating, nothing even comes close to the real
world performance of the Castle controllers, and Mamba
Monster is no exception. Weve hit 60 mph with RC vehicles
that have absolutely no business doing 60 mph. (And we were
doing it in a 20 mph zone!).
Mamba Monster is designed to keep its cool while it pounds
your truck. Castle refused to cut corners on the design or
the components, the electronic and thermodynamic
fundamentals are right to begin with. Castle then wrings a
bit more power out by using a high efficiency heat sink
PLUS an integrated cooling
fan to make sure you finish the race. Thermals are for the
other guys.
Mamba Monster ESCs come with huge 6.5mm gold plated bullet
connectors for reliable power transfer and simple
installation. Weve even thrown in a Castle
Link USB adapter so you can tame the Monster by
adjusting the really useful settings using your Windows PC.
Two incredible motor choices!
Based on Steve Neus awesome 15 series motor, the
Neu-Castle 2200 and 2650 are works of mechanical art. They
both feature high quality oversized bearings, sintered
Neodymium magnets, superior electromagnetic design, and
rigorous engineering control in our own factory resulting
in a Monster motor we can put our name on.
Neu-Castle 2650 KV Intended
for 4S (16.8 Volt) operation. Ideal for 1/8th buggy
conversions. The 2650 is 68mm long.
Neu-Castle 2200 KV Intended
for up to 6S (25.2 Volt) operation. Incredible in monster
trucks with up to 6S lipo packs (4s lipo is the sweet
spot), and works great in 1/8 Truggies as well. The 2200 is
75mm long making it capable of handling more power than the
2650. This one is the bad boy!
The efficiency of a motor determines its quality. Higher
efficiency means better design and high quality components.
The higher the efficiency of the motor the more power it
can produce before it overheats. Heres a little math, we
promise it wont hurt. Say you are laying down 1,000 watts,
(about 1 1 horsepower), and your motor is 70% efficient.
That means you are turning 300 watts into heat. Ever grab a
300 watt light bulb? If the motor is 85% efficient it only
burns 150 watts as heat. More power goes to the wheels and
the motor runs cooler and able to put out even more power
when needed.
Mamba Monster systems typically pull 4,000-5,000 watts (5
to 6 horsepower) under acceleration. The Neu-Castle motors
are some of the highest efficiency motors that we have ever
tested; they are up to 85%+ efficient on our test rig. The
more common Asian motors tend to show in the mid to high
70s. At those power levels, one single point equals about
50 watts of heat! You know that soldering iron on your
workbench? Its maxed out at 50 watts. Thats a lot of
heat; now consider wasting several times that much heat
inside your vehicle. Neu-Castle motors can therefore put
out significantly more power for longer periods than less
efficient motors. Go ahead, run the motor you have on the
shelf, we have a feeling you will find its heat limits
quickly.
Its always better to reduce the heat generated in an
electric power system is by better engineering than to try
and cool things with fans and other gimmicks. Sure, a fan
can get you a few degrees, but it is much better to have a
superior design to begin with.
Conversion Kits? Did you say conversion kits?
Yes, Castle will
have conversion kits for the Kyosho 777, the Losi 8ight,
and the Jammin buggies at a retail price of only $99.99.
The conversion kits will include aluminum motor mounting
plates, a servo mount and trick plastic battery bays
capable of holding up to 4S Lipo setups. Wait til you see
the retaining snakes. Yeah,
snakes.
These kits should be available in
early 2009.
Dont
forget the pinion!
Gotta have a way to get the power from the motor to the
drivetrain. Sounds like the worlds supply of 5mm pinions
evaporated once the Monster came out. Weve got the
following 5mm shaft pinions covered:
CC
PINION - MOD-1: manufactured from hardened
steel. Most common use will be for the 1/8th scale
conversions. Available in 11T, 13T, 15T, 17T, 19T, 21T, and
23T.
CC
PINION - 32P: machined from aluminum and
anodized Castle green. Most common uses will be for monster
trucks. Available in 18T, 20T, 22T, 24T, 26T, and 28T.
Weve made sure that these use the biggest Allen head set
screw we could fit.
CC Pinions are now available!

Power your Monster!
Probably going to need some batteries
too. We don't sell batteries but we have some good buddies
that do. Brian over at Tanic
Packs can put together the perfect A123 pack for your EMAXX. 6S 2P A123 is what we use in our
Monster EMAXX. Tons of power, incredible durability,
quick recharge (only15 minutes!), and the safety of the
A123 technology. Tanic Packs is also offering a great
deal on a 4S A123 pack. Your monster truck should be a
non-smoking zone, right?
